MoMA Launches eBook App for iPad

DesignTAXI.com: "The Museum of Modern Art has launched a free iPad app that allows users to download and read eBooks published by the museum. The app, called MoMA Books [iTunes link] will include current and out-of-print titles, as well as exhibition catalogs, scholarly texts and anthologies of art-historical texts from around the world, MoMA said in a statement."

Color E-Readers Open Way for Picture Books

NYTimes: " ... publishers are making headway in converting their enormous libraries of illustrated titles to e-books, hoping to capitalize on the growing popularity of the Apple iPad and the Nook Color and their ability to showcase books with color photographs and illustrations. Apple said Tuesday that it was set to make a major push into illustrated books on Wednesday, introducing more than 100 titles to its iBookstore, an assortment of children’s books, photography books and cookbooks."

Dorling Kindersley Goes Into eBooks

New Media Age: "'The key area initially will be [iPad] apps, and we have some aggressive targets,' said Dorling Kindersley’s digital publisher Justin Moodie. 'We’ve seen what’s happening in the market and believe there’s a gap for serious illustrated reference products. He said that Dorling Kindersley would focus on serving consumer needs across multiple platforms. 'It’s not a question of one or the other. The world is a big place and people use all formats. What I’d like us to do is meet all of those needs,' Moodie added."
